As you consider taking this year’s survey (please do!), here’s a look back at this year’s trends and how they might resurface in 2023. Here are some trends to consider heading into 2023, from our GRID 2022 Staffing and Recruitment Trends Report.
Talent dominated the agenda for 2022
The talent shortage was again the top challenge for agencies in 2022, leading to a talent-centric focus for the year ahead. Agencies cited candidate acquisition as the top priority for the year, with digital transformation and improving the candidate experience rounding out the top three. For the first time in the history of the trends report, winning new clients was not a top-three priority for recruitment agencies.
Candidate acquisition came in as the top priority for agencies, and respondents cite candidate sourcing as the most challenging part of the recruiting lifecycle. Despite this, less than half of agencies automate candidate sourcing (or any recruitment process).
Will firms step up their technology adoption and implementation to meet evolving candidate needs in 2023? Will talent remain the top priority for firms in the year ahead or will economic uncertainty propel clients to their spot as the former top priority for agencies? We’ll share the findings with you.
Staffing firms cited candidate experience as a strength, but talent doesn’t always agree
While agencies cited candidate experience as a priority for 2022, eighty percent of agencies said they already provide an excellent talent experience. Our recent survey of 2,000 global temp workers found that most respondents reported a challenge in at least one stage of their lifecycle with their most recent firm, with many citing communication and onboarding challenges as particular problem areas.
Digital transformation finally had its moment
2022 saw a dramatic rise in the number of recruitment businesses employing a digital transformation strategy. Eighty-four percent of global recruitment agencies now have a digital transformation strategy in place, compared to 43 percent a year ago. Digital transformation adoption has more than tripled since 2019 when just 25 percent of agencies reported the presence of a digital transformation strategy.
